Site-specific video, Varmland, Sweden.
The viewer sits inside with their back to the main entrance, watching the screen as someone slowly approaches the container where they are seated. When the sound of footsteps enter the space, the image goes dark and the person inside hears only the footsteps and feels the discomfort of someone coming up behind them in the dark. Then, a moment later, the space is illuminated again as a figure walks out of a door that was not previously visible, before darkness falls again and the video loops from the beginning.
Excerpt from review in Dagens Nyheter the Swedish news paper:
In the container for video art you really get the feeling that your own body has been stolen from you. Sara Björnsdóttir has with the camcorder on recorder, walked towards and into the dark container, passed the place where we audience now sit and then out through a door in front of us. The video is now shown in the container, and at the moment when everything suddenly gets dark and the artists body merges with your own, rises a genuine feeling of confusion- even if you know what is going to happen.
