Impending presence, 2011

Impending Presence is a live performance in which the artist sits in darkness at a table with a laptop connected to a printer. She types whatever comes to mind in the moment, and each page is immediately printed. As the sheets emerge, they are read aloud to the audience by artist Ásdís Sif through a microphone. Thoughts become words, words become voice: a movement from the unseen to the seen, from the dark to the light.

Examples of the texts include: “I don’t know if this will work but I ask for guidance.” / “I feel your eyes on me.” / “You’re trying to connect, I’m answering.” / “My mind is awake, my eyes are open, I feel.” / “I’m at your beach diving in your soul.” / “Impending presence.”
